How Bay Area Restaurants, Chefs, and Bars Are Helping Camp Fire Victims

Just three hours north of San Francisco, the Camp Fire is ravaging through homes, businesses, and communities. In less than a week, Butte County fire has become the deadliest in California history.

Some Bay Area chefs, restaurants, bars, and businesses have quickly sprung into action, with some making it a little easier for you to help as well. Here’s a running list, which we’ll keep updating continuously.

José Andrés’s World Central Kitchen is busy feeding tens of thousands of hot meals to both first responders and evacuees. You can donate to their efforts here.

The one and only Guy Fieri is feeding first responders pulled pork and sides.

Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is focusing on long-term support, setting up its own Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund and seeding it with an initial $100,000. Once the fire is out, the Chico-based brewery will distribute all the donated money to organizations working to rebuild. It’s also brewing Resilience Butte County Proud IPA on Tuesday, November 27 to raise funds, with 100 percent of sales from that beer going to Camp Fire relief.

Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is hosting a Thanksgiving fundraiser, with proceeds from all food sales that day — it’s promising a minimum of $10,000 — to the North Valley Community Foundation fund. The event takes place Thursday, November 22, from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., and reservations are recommended.

Pacific Heights restaurant Octavia and Castro restaurant Frances are both donating $1 per cover to the California Community Foundation.

Berkeley’s Cafe Ohlone is offering care packages of Native foods and water to evacuees making their way to the Bay Area. Email vincent@makamham.com for more info.

Oakland’s Bar 41 is collecting donations for the Red Cross, and bartender Troy Atkins is personally donating a percentage of all of his tips this week.

Oakland’s Tacos Oscar recently donated all of their tips and part of their proceeds from an event to fire relief efforts — and we would not be surprised if the guys do it again. Keep an eye on their Instagram.

On Sunday, November 18, 7th West and Hog’s Apothecary are hosting a fundraiser with local beer and Filipino food at 7th West from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — all proceeds will go to the Golden Valley Bank Community Foundation to help victims.

On Tuesday, November 20, Doña Tomás will donate 10 percent of all proceeds from lunch and dinner sales to Grant Kerber’s GoFundMe page, which will then go to the North Valley Community Foundation to aid fire victims. Doña Tomás will continue to do so for the following two Tuesdays, November 27 and December 3.

All California locations of Ono Hawaiian BBQ will donated 50 percent of sales made between 2 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 18 to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund. All firefighters who visit a California location from November 18 to November 21 will also receive one free Hawaiian plate.

Drake’s Brewing Co. is donating $5 from every ticket sold for its Hazy Daze of Winter event to the North Valley Community Foundation. The hazy IPA festival takes place December 1 at the San Leandro brewery.

Both the San Francisco and Oakland locations of Farmhouse Kitchen are donating half of all profits from Farmhouse’s Loi Krathong Holiday event Friday, November 16, and Saturday, November 17 to Camp Fire relief efforts. That holds up if you’re ordering in, taking out, or getting food delivered via Caviar.

Oakland tiki bar The Kon-Tiki is donating 50 percent from Voyager’s Mainbrace cocktail sales — and 100 percent of the accompanying glass sales — to fire relief.

Flour + Water is donating 100 percent of proceeds from a special Roman-style pizza al taglio to fire relief efforts.

Alameda’s St. George Spirits is donating all tour and tasting proceeds through Friday, November 30 to Sierra Nevada’s Camp Fire relief fund.

Brooklyn-based artist Nicole Pilar (recently featured in Eater NY’s 2018 gift guide) will donate 20 percent of all sales of her “dollop” dish from now until December 25 to the Butte Humane Society. (You can check out her dishes at Bay Area restaurants like Robin and Aubergine.)

From November 17 to 22, local sous vide company Nomiku will donate 15 percent of revenue to the following funds: Camp Fire Evacuation Relief FundButte County Schools Fire Relief FundGo Fund Me – Northern California Fire Campaigns. Check their products out on Eater SF’s 2018 gift guide.

The California Caviar Company will donate 20 percent of all sales from November 18 to 22 to the California Fire Foundation.

Castro restaurant Finn Town is donating 10 percent of all sales of food and drink to World Central Kitchen (see above) on Tuesday, November 20.

For Salt & Straw’s grand opening in Palo Alto on Friday, November 23, the ice cream company will donate a portion of the proceeds from all of the Bay Area locations to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund.

Oakland’s Homeroom is donating 10 percent of profits from all orders of Thanksgiving mac ‘n’ cheese platters to World Central Kitchen.

Trumer Brewery donated $100,000 to Sierra Nevada’s relief fund and $10,000 to a separate fund to support employees of Sierra Nevada Brewing affected by the fires.

On Wednesday, November 21, Standard Fare in Berkeley is donating 100 percent of coffee sales to the North Valley Community Foundation.

Multiple chefs, businesses, and farms and banning together to feed fire survivors Thanksgiving dinner.

From Friday, November 23 through Friday, November 30, Brisbane’s 7 Mile House is donating 50 percent of all Sierra Nevada beer sales to the Chico brewery’s fire relief fund. On Saturday, December 1, 10 percent of all sales will go to the fund. And on Monday, December 10, 7 Mile will start serving Sierra Nevada’s Resilience Butte County Proud IPA and donate 50 percent of the proceeds to the relief fund as well.

Alembic is donating 100 percent of all sales from hot spiced cider to support Camp Fire victims through the end of the year.

For one day over Thanksgiving weekend, B. Patisserie donated 50 percent of all sales and 100 percent of a special box of off-menu items to the North Valley Community Foundation. It turned into a whopping $9,400.

Tadich Grill donated $1,000 to the North Valley Community Fund and Truckaroni, an Italian food truck that has been serving Camp Fire victims for free.

San Francisco Brewing Co. is brewing Sierra Nevada’s Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the fund. It’s hosting a fundraiser Tuesday, November 27 from 6 to 9 p.m. to kick off the IPA production, with a portion of the food and beverage sales going to the Chico State Wildcats Rise Fire Recovery Fund.

Former Top Chef contestant Tu David Phu is organizing a few Chef’s Hawker Centrefeasts with all the proceeds benefitting Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency, a nonprofit providing support to those affected by the California wildfires. They take place Monday, December 3 and Monday, December 10 at the Bear & Monarch. Each night features two seatings of a six-course, $165 meal featuring food from Phu, Howard Ko (The Bear & Monarch), and Brandon Rosen (a private chef appearing on the next season of Top Chef). December 3 also includes Rogelio Garcia (Spruce, Top Chef), and the later date features Francis Ang (Pinoy Heritage).

Healdsburg’s Spoonbar is hosting a crab feed dinner on Wednesday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m., with 20 percent of all food and wine sales being donated to the North Valley Community Foundation. It costs $65 per person and guests can reserve by calling (707) 433-7222.
